Vigo Singers has run as an independent choir since 2005 and meets each term for ten or eleven sessions on a Tuesday evening 7.00pm - 8.30pm. Dates are agreed at the beginning of each academic year but may be changed if necessary. Details on the member's notice board The fees are £50* per term and should normally be paid by the third week of the term. Cheques are payable to Vigo Singers and should be handed to the treasurer. Music scores are normally provided out of the £50 fee.
The choir also sings at weddings for which the group receives expenses. This helps to keep costs down. It is hoped that all members will commit some time for this when possible.
At present, performance dress is black skirts, black tops and pink accessories (or red scarves at Christmas). The skirts, tops and accessories are bought by individual choir members. The red scarf is provided by the choir and remains part of our stock. It should be returned after each performance to the member or members responsible for wardrobe. At weddings we wear black skirts and white blouses.
All music is kept in a black A4 folder. The Music Representative, appointed by the committee will oversee the distribution of music but it is the individual member's responsibility to organise and check their music and report any shortfalls.
Members are encouraged to discuss suggestions or concerns with a member of the committee, which will be passed on to the musical director.
News will generally be sent by e-mail. Those who do not have e-mail facilities will normally be informed by telephone
All choir members will be given a list of choir members. The information contained is confidential within the choir.
